20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Merry: In which there is exploration of the oceans of Atlantis, marching scampi, and can I say how much I love this without just squeeing? I cannot. I just squee.
About a Lamp by Torch: Look! Plot! And sex. And more plot. And a lamp that moves a lot. I really, really love the format, beyond my ability to describe.
Abstain by Resonant: Aliens make them not have sex, and there's this fruit, and pancakes. And wow. Seriously. Weird fruit.
New - Academic by Rageprufrock: AU of SGA. I--really don't know what to say about this. Sheppard the English Lit teacher kind of boggles the mind.
Advantage by Resonant: Slavefic makes me twitch. This I blame on bad authors who scarred me for life. All slavefic makes me twitch. This? Not so much. Rodney is kind of desperate and Sheppard's very mellow, and also? He learns to juggle. Seriously, it's fantastic.
An Aesthetic, Solitary Thing by Eliade: The concept of pon farr is just too cool. This is sort of not pon farr, but wow, so close. Alien!Rodney, pretty laid-back Sheppard, and a really *amazing* transformation. It's sweet, and alien, and hit kinks that didn't exist before this was written.
An Affair to Remember by Tira Nog: Sheppard/McKay, McKay/other. Rewrite of the movie. Sometimes, I need *Romance*. Note the capitalization. I need *fuzzy* Romance. Again? Capitalized. I need falling in love in exotic locales and shipboard romance, reluctant separation, broken hearts, and OMG HURT and OMG COMFORT! This, ladies and gentlemen, is how h/c is *done*.
Aftershocks by shalott: Post Storm/Eye fic, after everything. John remembers the past, and Rodney's having issues getting out of the recent events. Good, purposeful angst.
New - Always Should Be Someone You Really Love by thingswithwings: Sheppard and McKay both turn into women. This totally restored my faith in genderfuck. Very awesome. And *fascinating* for that matter. It's hot, yes, but interesting as well above and beyond that. I really, really like what she's done with this.
And Sometimes You Get Toasters by Giddygeek: Rodney's become an adrenaline junkie. John has a better way to keep him entertained. And by entertained, I mean, sex. Which I can totally see.
Another Word for Optimism by Celli: This is just *funny*. Rodney's gene starts temporarily working better. The why is hysterical.
As Lost As You Get by Lilysaid: Sheppard/McKay. Absolutely *stunning* Ephiphany extension and alteration, making a lot of the original ep made sense. I liked the ep before--I like it even more now. Beautiful writing, very much lilysaid. And an interesting look at Ascension from Rodney's pov.
As the Stars Fade Out by Cottontail73: Sheppard/McKay. SG1/SGA crossover goodness of plot and action, a vivid Rodney pov, a spare style, and some very nice McKay/Sheppard. I really enjoyed.
As You Wish by Nel: In which there are mind altering substances, and John's protecting his virtue. Badly.
New - Ascension by soraya2004: Fusion with Star Wars. They're both Sith! They're evil! They fall in love because they can't kill each other!. I want to read this one forever.
#435, The Atlantis Local Stitch'n'Bitch Chapter by Rageprufrock: Rodney discovers knitting. Well, he discovers other people knitting. Then he discovers The Secret Language of Knitting. This is just so much fun it hurts me.
New - Bang by Rageprufrock: John is not a battered woman. Really.
A Beautiful Lifetime Event by shalott: First there's a baby. Then there's marriage. Then there's love. Eventually, there is sex. And it's *fantastic*, and funny, and sweet, and one of the three kidfics in the universe that does not drive me crazy. Oh yes. Good times.

Being Right Is Everything by Cesperanza: Sheppard/McKay. Sheppard can surf dreams. Awesome, fun ficness of good.
Bell Curve, or Ladies Night at the Boom Boom Room by Rageprufrock: It's a fantastic, fun, *God so good* romantic comedy in the best sense of the words. John's a kind of stripper and Rodney's mostly a professor and things get really complicated really fast.
New - Benched by Cesperanza: Okay, I say angsty, but it's angsty in a very fun, tension-building, no body-parts-removed-in-gruesome-ways type of way. (...I bet by that you can guess I was reading SPN this weekend and discovered the word angst covered things that maybe sort of kind of traumatized me.) But awesome. Rodney is very brave, and John is very much a mother hen, and everyone else is just awesome.
New - Best Somethings by Shrift: Post-Quarantine ficlet, where Rodney realizes he's been leading a double life and didn't even know it.
A Better Fate by chelle: First seasonish. After a fairly traumatic incident, Rodney goes home with John. It's a lovely character piece, with excellent Sheppard parents. Good comfort fic.
New - Better Than by seiyaharris: It's a cute John the MD AU, and it's just--really nice. Though I'd give a lot for an expanded version of this one. Cause the premise alone is awesome.
Beyond Onireomancy: A Rationalist's Guide to Understanding Your Dreams by TheSpike: Spike gives great Rodney. Just read. It's excellent all the way through.
New - Biological Imperatives by Elchivar: I have--no *WORDS* here. Just hysterical and awesome and Discovery channel and mollusks--MOLLUSKS!--and au goodness all the way.
Blindsided by Resonant: Well. Yeah. Who saw that coming? The smut in this fandom makes me very happy. Always.
A Blue True Dream of Sky by Isilya: Very AU, John/Rodney in the Austrailian outback. This is an *amazing* read, I can *see* it perfectly. Don't let the AU throw you off--this is marvelous.
The Body Holographic by Springwolf and Leah: Sheppard/McKay, McKay/other. Okay, *intersting*. And I don't say this lightly. The original story was interesting, but this one, which the authors call a remix--a past, present, and future for that story, giving it a huge and interesting backstory and context. Very non-linear, but fairly easy to follow, painful, brutal--but man, that ending totally screwed with my head wonderfully.
Breaking Up Is Hard To Do by Amireal: In which Rodney wants to break up, and John wants to know when they started dating. Also, math foreplay. That, my friends, is *different*.
Bullets by the Door by Nifra Idril: The most beautiful, wonderful look at John in Afghanistan I have ever read. It's--wow, it's just *gorgeous*, the style and the language and *bliss*. I always forget how I just want to purr when I read something by her.
But Not With Years by niqaeli: Post-Siege III, sort of, written before airing. It has an absolutely *gorgeous* John, and the Rodneys' excellent too, hot and sad and coming down from the adrenaline of everything that could have gone wrong and still does. It's bittersweet and not resolved, and just lovely.
Call by Julad: Fluffy bit of poker night. McKay is so adorable. And sucks so much at poker.
Call Soft Enough by Torch: Very hot, classis PWP with character development, my favorite kind.
Can't Have One Without the Other by shalott: I am fond of stories where the technology so conveniently *helps* the smut along. Very, very conveniently.
New - Canada Likes It on Top by busaikko: That was *amazingly* sweet and I love the idea of them babysitting Madison. And Rodney's really *good* in here, very much himself. Loved.
Cease Fire by Basingstoke: Post-Siege, the aftermath of all the adrenaline and all that relief they managed to stay alive.
Checklist by Mercuriosity: Or, The Galaxy Is John Sheppard's Single Bar. Rodney's getting tired of John not seeing this coming. God, this is cute.
The Cigarette Girl in the Sizzle Hot Pants by Minervacat: It's quiet, John and Rodney roadtripping their way through America instead of flying. I really love them in that diner.
New - Circuitous by Rageprufrock: Military McKay pre first season and first season. It's awesome.
New - Class:Insecta by Cupidsbow: AU from Conversion on. The author takes a possibility and runs with it. Beautifully woven into canon, a little creepy, and completely not where I expected the story to go.
Classified AKA Wanted by toomuchplor: Sheppard/McKay. It starts with someone wanting a--donation. And takes off from there. God. I laughed myself *sick*.
Close Encounters by Amireal: My favorite part is that she was sending this to me in tantalizing bite sized pieces while I was at work, so I was constantly hitting refresh on my webmail pathetically hoping for another bit. It's *adorable*. Rodney has a crush, John tries to deal with it, in that way that you just *know* he is never the person to go to for relationship advice like, ever, and it all just--it's so cute. Happy place.

Complicated by Danvers: I imprint on certain stories. This was the second I ever read in this fandom, and the second by this author, so if there's any single thing that made me sit up straight and go, yes, *this*, well, this and Under the Skin did it. I love this one for the Rodney, who's a complete and total ass and even notices, sometimes that he is, and John, who really is sorry but not for the right reasons. It's fairly long, complex, and such a great look into Rodney's head.
Constitutional Crisis by Fabula Rasa: A interesting look at Atlantis and it's constitution. Beautiful Rodney/John, and well, yes, hot, but also at Elizabeth's negotiation skills. I always think she'd stick the knife in when it's necessary. She's a practical kind of a girl.
Controverted by shalott: So cute. Rodney makes a mistake and John *beats it to death*, and the thing is, I can totally see that level of obliviousness going on there. It's so *funny*.
The Convenient Husband by Brighid: Part of the Harlequin challenge. After many years, childhood friends John and Rodney meet again. And John has this *idea*. When I say the Harlequin challenge was the best. Idea. Ever? I meant it.
Coping Mechanisms by Amireal: A fantastic AUish departure from post-Duet. It starts with a bang, which always pleases, and it carries on with fantastic humor. I think my favorite part of Amireal is she *does* have a sense of humor and it shows through in all her fic. She totally knows how to make me giggle in a serious story in all the right ways. Nicely long--really, she's becoming a favorite, it's like I'm guaranteed at least an hour of immersion. I'm easy like that.
Cred by Resonant: Because John's a huge geek and Rodney totally gets off on that. Happy place.
Credentials by thegrrrl2002: It starts with a party and alcohol, which always goes the most fantastic places, *ever*, porntastically speaking, and hten it goes the porn places, then the uncomfortable post-porn places. There is no bad here.

Daybreak by giddygeek: There is nothing of hers I have not loved, and this is no exception. Time is being restarted. Over and over and over again. It's cute and funny and Rodney yells at idiots, and oh man. Just too much fun all around
Defining the Fall by bottle of shine: Let me say whoa and whoa again. Oh wow. Non-linear, almost stream of consciousness, beautiful Rodney here. The style was *breathtaking* and I'm a whore for style. That worked. Really well.
A Different Perspective by Violetsmiles: Wins for the hottest thing I've read in--I have no idea how long, that's how many neurons sacrificed their lives for me to be able to say guh. Double pov Rodney and John, did I mention the exceeding hotness, and ohmygod characterization. This is the reason I am willing to defend the artistic value of smut and the pwp. Right here.
New - Discovery, Stumbled Upon by chelle: The ways I love this are legion. Jeannie was right, and Rodney had revelations.
Do Over by Carolyn Claire: John and Rodney are adorable, from the Enclosed Spaces challenge, in which they are *alone* and therefore, there should be porn. And there is. And it is pretty.
Enlightenmnet by Luthien: Elizabeth, McKay/Sheppard. A very odd mission on a very differnet planet. Very--introspective. I enjoyed both the mystery and the look into Elizabeth's head. Just lovely. And also? Nicely long.
Empirical Evidence by Nestra: A cute bit of Rodney, who tends to like things *concrete*, not assumed. And panicking. A panicking Rodney is a fun Rodney.
The Empty Bell by Brighid: Non-linear time-space, the team ends up on a culled planet. There's some lovely sex in here, but the images from the dead village haunt. Brighid does a great job with the team's reaction to what they see.
Euler's Jewel by Basingstoke: Math porn. John/Rodney. Wow. So totally not joking with this one. Makes you kinda want to take that linear algebra class you blew off, cause man, who *knew*?
Existence as Interesting as Possible by Wax_Jism: Well. There's a dragon. And unicorns. And Rodney mania. I mean, seriously, there so aren't words, so just read it. Also, fantastic new mindmelding with the jumper. That never stops being cool.
Expectations by Elandria Lore: Lovely, lovely first-kiss fic.
Experiment by Resonant: Her shorter stories like this just kill me. I keep forgetting if I recommended Thirst, because that one blew me out of the water--heh, pun intended--but like that one and Quiet are so intense, so *focused*, it's like seventy-two percent dark chocolate hitting all at once in a single bite. She gives really fabulous Rodney.

Face Value by Minnow: Ooh. Telepathy fic! It's freaky! It's scary*. And Rodney discovers that even in their thoughts, people can be very boring. And that people are sometimes exactly what they seem.
Failsafes by Lunasky: Sheppard, McKay. It's sharp and fast and plotty and haunting. Atlantis is destroyed. A lot.
Fearless, Mindless Fancy by giddygeek: Another of the marvelous Harlequin challenge fics, I love this one for the very simple fact that it's just *amazing* rompy fun. Rodney's a TV talk show host, and John a--paranormal investigator. And they go to explore a haunted house. This is basically the most fun you can have while still sitting still.
Find Your Way by reccea: A wonderful follow-up to Annie's story Nightmares. After ten years, Rodney comes home. It's wonderful, rediscovering everything he left, and John finding what he lost.
Finding the Fine Print by Giddygeek: So there's this tower, right? And then ther'es this rock. And then Rodney is impatient and forgets his fun with fonics education. And wow, didn't that go somewhere strange and fun. God, I love this. I love it, love it, love it.
New - Fireball by Celli: NASCAR AU. Um, read this now, okay? This is happiness and puppies and sunlight and oh God the porn. Yeah. Happiness. It's funny and fun and cute and in character and teaches you about car racing! Educational! And possibly cures world hunger. And a kitten survives every time someone reads.
New - Fix by Toft Froggy: Warning for consent. The premise is cracky, but the story is anything but. Sheppard gets caught by an Ancient Machine with only one way out. Rodney takes advantage of the situation. Uncomfortable, to say the least.
Flawed by mandysbitch: It's weirdly surreal. Clones and the discovery of what they were for. It meanders and I'm not entirely sure I wouldn't have liked more resolution, but it works, and I enjoyed.
New - A Foot in Your Door by lilysaid: John and Rodney accidentally adopt someone and then things get interesting. Bonding, and Larrin, and an interesting plot.
For All Intents and Purposes by Lacey McBain: In which there is an *aquarium*, and it's so--I don't know the words. But it's sweet.
Fractured Fairy Tale by Amireal: Post ep to Hive, so don't read if you and the download have not become intimate. It's *good*.
New - Gift Horse by liketheriver: Awesome misunderstanding and warm cuddliness. Actually, despite differences in style, it vaguely reminds me of that one by sleepswithcoyotes, how everything kept going wrong and seriously. This is tea-drinking fic. Settle in and read.
Glimpse by Resonant: *Ankles*. I totally get the attraction here. Wow. John wears too many clothes. I've always thought so.
New - Glossalia by regann: Rodney loses the ability to talk on an alien planet and John learns a new way to listen to him. I know how sappy that sounds, but it's utterly true.
The Greatest Rescue Mission in the Pegasus Galaxy by Mausi: I have *no words*. Oh my GOD, they rescue...they rescue... No. You have to read it. Puppies. Puppies. I love this one so much. God. So funny
Good for What Ails You by Giddygeek: I hate to say this, but I agree. Unclogged nasal passages are really worth *any* price. Any price at all.
The Gun Thing by Out There: Because oh dear God, John's guns. Oh yes. Rodney totally *gets that*.
New - Have You Ever by kuonji: AMTDI. The problem is, one of them hasn't before. I love this trope, so hell yes. More of these.
New - Healing Scars by liketheriver: Lovely exploration of scars and the memories they hold, set post Tao of Rodney.
New - Hello, I Must Be Going by stormheller: Slightly AU for pre-Atlantis, right after Afghanistan. It is cute and it is romantic and Rodney proved that he would be the most efficient stalker ever. Bring cookies. It's fun.
New - Here in This Lonely Place by Brighidestone: A gorgeous, heartbreaking what-if future and a way to change the past.
Hindsight by Rageprufrock: A wonderfully realized AU, with a single change to John that changes everything. The changes in character are believable, and Rodney and John are amazing. This is a fully fleshed out, wonderfully written AU that I cannot enough adore. It's pretty much the entire reason I love AUs, for these kinds of possibilities.
The Hollow Men by Trinityofone: Virtual Rodney. Dear God. It's lovely and heartbreaking and creepy, and there isn't any kind of happy ending, though maybe they'll fake one anyway. Wow. It's haunting.
Home Fires Burning by Shusu: Sheppard/McKay. With reference to first season eps. No spoilers. It's a mystery you need to solve.
How Not To Make a Lightbulb by blinkiesays: An excellent John Rodney, pre, post, and post-post breakup, fun and silly and wonderfully written. The entire porn planet thing just--yes. That worked for me.
Human Vacillation by trinityofone: An unexpected side effect of dying. Wow. This one did good things for me. John here is amazing.
Hunger by Amireal: Sheppard/Teyla, Sheppard/McKay. Post Common Ground. John's still feeling the effects of his encouter with the Wraith. Very hot, and very good character work.
If I Must Break by slodwick: When I say that SGA sometimes feels like Smallville Reunion, she's one of the ones I'm thinking of and missed so much. This one is so *good*--the use of pov, the sharp, almost frantic pace, the beautiful look in Sheppard's head. She does marvelous things. Marvelous.
Immovable Force by Nel: I like this one most for the great look at Rodney figuring things out. And being his usual stubborn self when it comes to John. Their confrontation is very, very them, with John pushing away and Rodney really completley unable to understand 'personal space'. This is a good thing.
Impossibilium by Canadian Snoopy: This was just an awww. I mean, a big awww. Little puddle of love for the John/Rodney and the sweetness.
In Shades of Indigo and Violet by Violetsmiles: oh wow. See, it's one of those *things*. Where you totally say, no, but then you read it and say yes yes yes. And yes again. John/Rodney, with colors and fairy dust and *so not kidding*. Seriously. Trust me. Good stuff.
Inflourescence by eliade: Three words. Alien sex pollen. I'm done here.
Insanity by tigs: Post Siege III; back on earth, John and Rodney are waiting for word on the expedition. I love John here, and I love Rodney's determination. It's amazingly good, and John's vulnerability hurts.
Intersections by Kaneko: The History of John the Air Force Pilot and Rodney teh Genius, pre-Atlantis. Seriously. *History*. It twists around and turns and almost in love. Heh. I mean, seriously, *fantastic*. There's no way I can do it justice here.
Instantaneous by Cimorene: Personal teleporting device. John uses it in fun, porny, and very dangerous ways. The best part of Atlantis is the sheer *number* of cool Ancient devices that could pop up. This is nice and long, with excellent characterization, Rodney deep in scientist mode, and excellent shippiness.
Invulnerable by Kylie Lee: Referring to Hide and Seek, where Rodney found and lost invulnerability, Rodney gets shorter and more irritating as the story goes on, with himself, with everyone, and most of all, what he thinks he can't have. Really, really good Rodney.
Isolation by Kharess: Lost Boys fic. Wow. If there was ever, *ever* a story that straddled the nebulous line in my mind of what is non-con and what's rape, this one is *it*. It's *fantastic*, unsettling as hell, disturbing and dark and twisty and it's completely John and completely, utterly Rodney. That just--that last bit hurts me *every time*. Because John *knows* that lasting and memorable? Are not what he wants here.
It Stops Being Funny at Skirts by Svmadelyn: Genderswitch. Hugely fun as John has his own private freakout in being a woman, and getting more action than he has for the entire show. Mmm. Fabulous.
It's Not Citrus by Nudaydreamer: Sheppard/McKay. This can best be expressed by the concept of Most Significant Donut Ever. Written for the What's Your Filling challenge.
Jam Every Other Day Part 1 and Part 2 by Arionchan: the author said Wonderlandish, and yes, surreal as hell, but it's so damn *good* and easy to follow and just--wow. I loved everything--the virtual environment, the ship, the way Rodney has to succeed and the way that he really needs to move on from that water related death thing--it just works in every way.
New - Jelly Side Up by Devildoll: I really wish there was a way to summarize this. SGA, Sheppard/McKay, and the Cock of Wonder. Sort of.
New - Junk Cheap by Devildoll: AU, Sheppard/McKay, and very, very, very funny. And fun! And John fixes things! For pastry!
Just Like Christmas by Cesperanza: First night on a new planet, and really, it's just *cool*.

Kid A by Cesperanza: Sheppard/McKay. John's not gay, exactly, and Rodney's in love, and somehow, you think this can't end well, but you'd be wrong.
Knowing by Resonant: Achingly hot, sweet, excellent characterization in this PWP.
The Last Walk Home by Auburnnothenna: I don't know if this is considered AU, but it's definitely futurefic. Auburn has this habit of just--darkfic doesn't begin to describe, but it's *good*. It's kinda the beginning of the end. Or the end of the beginning. I’m not sure which. I'd love to see where she'd go with this.
Last Will and Testament by Cesperanza: Heh. There is no adequate way to describe this without just going guh. But yeah. No spoilers. Hard AU--there's a will and an alien artifact and John and Rodney's lives are just way too complicated for two men who really could *never* have seen this coming.
Layover by Aithine: That time between John and the chair Finding Each Other and John finding His City, with Rodney there, kind of bored and lacking tact. It's *so cute*.
Leadership by corinna: Hate crimes in Atlantis. It hurts, but it's something John would do, not ask of anyone what he won't do himself. It's wonderfully written and heartbreaking and true. Dammit.
Learn Something New by Cesperanza: Sheppard/McKay. Surfing roadtrip. Hot and sandy and salty and just gorgeous.
New - Leavenworth by amireal: John and Rodney are thrown in prison on an alien world and discover a deeply unique way the guards control the prisoners. I really like this because I just didn't expect that at all.
Letters by Kylie Lee: It's Rodney at his most logical and least reasonable. This one has a particularly vivid McKay that I just love.
Letter of Credance by Evangeline: Post-disaster Rodney is a thing of just amazing complexitiy, and of course John goes after him. It's wonderfully, sweetly done, and three words for you--chocolate ferris wheel. Yes. It's *that* kind of a story. Happy place.
Liberty by Yin-Again and Ladycat: Sheppard/McKay. When I say, mind blown, I mean, oh. God. Yes. Not just sex. It's--it's *romantic*, the good kind, with sandcastles and poi and surfing and *happiness*, and I can taste salt when I breathe and feel the ocean against my skin and I didn't ever want it to end. Wow. Seriously. I owe them feedback like you would *not* believe, but I just can't get past how perfect this is to get the words out. This hum I can feel and I just feel so *good* after reading it, *happy*. Just happy. Yes. It's *that* kind of story.
New - The Life You Lead by thegrrrl2002: Awesome amensia fic, lovely interaction--totally a warm tea-drinking story.
New - Like a Dream in the Morning by leahwoof: SGA/Torchwood crossover. Interesting use and combination of both universes, and it was just--wow. I liked this a *lot*.
Like a Long, Slow Nervous Breakdown by Cesperanza: I like the style on this one. It takes a bit to adjust to, but it's totally worth it, in a series of sharp, frantic images that show the development of a very interesting relationship. This is one of my favorites.
Limits by CJ: If only stick fighting was like this. Rodney's testing his limits. And wow, does he ever.
New - A Little Bit Like Goldilocks, A Lot Like That Woody Allen Movie by tzzzz: (Sheppard/McKay, Sheppard/Carter)This is seriously *wonderful*. It's funny and a little dramatic, with gay epiphany and sweet and just good all around. I love Rodney's journey, and the structure is flawless moving from past to present (especially with Bentley).
Locusts and Wild Honey by Wickedwords: Post Lost-Boys. What I like best about it is the way Rodney puts together what happened in the cave to him, and to John. It's slow, and the reader figures it out along with Rodney.
New - Lost in Waiting by Lacey McBain: I wouldn't often buy a virgin John story, but this one is the exception to that. Gorgeously written John and the conflict between what he was raised to be and what he is.

Nonverbal by princess bunny: I think the style on this one is my favorite part--sharp, fast, almost blurred. Telepathy fic involving all the gene carriers, and yeah. Very. Very. Hot.
A Not So Modest Proposal by Reccea: I love Rodney at his steamroller best, and I love John's roadblocks, and I love how he eventually takes them down. It's a wonderful, fairly long fic that covers their relationship beautifully, and I loved every minute.

The Other Half of the Equation by lamardeuse: Starting where The Defiant One ep ended, Rodney has a severe shock of realization of how much he's changed. I think what I love best about this is Rodney's learning curve, on both who he is and who he wants to be, even if it's never someone he's wanted to be before. Atlantis changed him, his relationships changed him, but more than that, he changed himself. It's *gorgeous*.
The Other Side of Silence by Lemonbella: This is one of my favorite fics of all time. I love the plotline, and I love how it was not so much resolved as dealt with. Rodney comes back with an injury and has to learn how to deal with it, and I love, love, love how John more than anyone understands that it has to be Rodney's journey. God. Yes. This is a favorite.
New - Out of West: AU of SGA. Rodney was accused of plagiarsm before he got his doctorate. And everything, everything changes.

Relaxation by lamardeuse: In the fantastic tradition of the best of Atlantis' "how many different kinds of sextoys did the Ancients have?", this one just takes it to a whole new level. Sex *rooms*. And good ones.
Resonance by Sarah T: Season one, pre-Siege II fic, with a fascinatingly complex John. Don't get me wrong, I like all Johns, but this one *resonates*. Rodney's desperate need to be more than he is, even when he doesnt' need to be, and John's understanding and not at all, and that *connection* that he's reaching for and fumbles in weird ways. I just--can't get over it, how she nailed what I saw in The Storm/The Eye--hell, several second season eps as well. It's beautifully, painfully done, and you NEED TO READ THIS, 'KAY?
Revelations by Trinity of One: Really fantastic AU of Sheppard and McKay. If you have religious sensibilities, I'd suggests tredding carefully, but other than that--oh God, the hot. The hot and guilty and dirty and totally wonderful, sweet and furtive too. I mean, seriously. Good stuff.
The Reverse of Fascination by shrift: light, light spoilers for Intruder. Sheppard is very, very bored. Rodney hides under navigation panels. There's an unsuccessful crossword puzzle book. Then some other stuff. If I said why I loved it, it would start with "ooh, snark!" but seriously...no, wait. It does start with that. And also the hot. Happy. I am happy.
Ripples in the Space Between by Miriel: I actually read it middle to end to beginning, and then went back to do it chronologically. It's told from the POV of an OC scientist brought on the Daedalus, covering a bit over a year in Atlantis in the first part, three years later on the second, and the third covering the same period of time as the second but from a different pov. It's *interesting*, and I don't say this lightly, viewing Atlantis from the equivalent of a Lower Decks person, to use Voyager terminology. I would give--God--a LOT to get this more fleshed out other than in glimpses, but on its own, it's a marvelous and original story, and I really didn't expect to become this engrossed. The author's done a fabulous job in putting this together. The OC is a ob/gyn, dealing with medical, along with pregnancy rays, mpreg, and assorted, but it manages to be funny without being comedy, and very much how I imagine that the non-main characters of SGA must feel. This is a very, very good story, and again, my only wish would be for the author to go back and fill in all the history between the first and second story, flesh out the fascinating changes that occurred in those three years.
Risque by Kageygirl: Teamfic. It's short, cute, and sweet, and involves fruit and a tree. Yeah. No, really. Go for it.
Rodney's Last Message by Cesperanza: Rodney's trapped in a tiny room with a laptop. The email are funny and painful by turns. Its'--lovely. Really, really lovely.
The Roads Never Lead Where They Are Supposed to Go by Eleveninches: I have apparently been waiting my entire fannish life, or at least the SGA portion, to read this. I totally have. It's--oh my GOD it's so cracked and hysterical and funny and *fun* and it makes an amazing amount of sense, whether or not you are high at the time. I want to have its tiny velociraptor babies and tell it long stories of dead civilizations and possibly teach it to love coffee.; Oh my GOD, this is the kind of stuff that I am in fandom to read. Scenes From an Accidental Courtship by Torakowalski: I am always weak for stories of unrequited crushes that get requited, and this one is no exception. John has a crush, and Rodney finds out, and that's when everything goes very, very funny.
Scenes in a Lesser War by Amireal: Okay, I know I'm prejudiced. I love her, I love her fic, and I beta'ed the damn thing, all fifty freaking three pages of it. Or so. But I loved every word. Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and how the ending of it can be as complex as having it around. It's thoughtful and hot and interesting, and I love how all the characters deal with the ramifications of it.

The best I could do is a plot summary and it needs to be *read* without that, but--wow. Teamfic, later Sheppard/McKay, but both are full stories in themselves, fantastically realized. I don't have words. I don't even have coherent *thought* to how good this is.
Tempus Fugit by Canadian Snoopy: As an AU to the end of Siege II, it's utterly fantastic Rodney pov. It's told backwards, and it *works*.

They're Advertising in the Skies for People Like Us by throughadoor: It's a wonderful what-if, where our John and Rodney end up in a world where Sumner survived. It is not a happy place.
Thicker than Water by Julad: Visiting Earth story. The Sheppard is a little more passive than my personal taste, but it's a lovely, long, rich story of Rodney, John, and Canada, renewing old ties, creating new ones, and severing, as the case might be.
Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead by Cesperanza: Post Siege III, during the return from Atlantis. Ces gives good Rodney, one of the best if not the best in the fandom, with all his abrasiveness and the hard won compassion he's learned in Atlantis that a lot of writers miss by a mile. He's both here, petty and amazing, and I love, love, love watching him with John, how he's learned to deal with him.
Thirst by Resonant: And it all starts with water. And ends there, too. I love what Resonant does with the hot and the pretty, making it meaningful and real.
Three Stories From Three Fandoms by Mirabile Dictu: I don't know LOTRIPs, the other two are SG1 and SGA respectively, and both are *good*. I'm especially entranced with the quiet richness of the third one, in Atlantis' future, soft and sweet and has *baths*. It's a lovely Rodney pov, and it just--makes me ache in a really wonderful way. Read read read.

To Sleep With the Lights On by Purna: Something happened to Rodney on that planet, and he doesn’t remember. It's excellent for the slow reveal, the creepiness of how it happened, and I love, love, love how he handles it.

Under the Skin by Danvers: This is the one. My absolute favorite fic in SGA, and up there with my favorite fics *ever*. Established relationship Sheppard/McKay, woven into John's recent capture and torture, and so well done. Their communication skills suck, but they learn a new way to talk. It's *fantastic*. It's beautiful. It's almost painfully hot. It's my favorite re-read *ever*.
Undone by Lyndac: It's a really excellent character view of John, the military and the non-military, shedding one skin to take up another one.
Unhealthy Attachment by Amireal: The Harlequin challenge has *really* brought out the creativity in people, and this was *so much fun*. It's kind sorta h/c and Rodney being a complete ass but hugely *himself* and John high a lot, but not *recreationally*, and okay, I don't want to spoil it, but just go. Read. Wallow. Huge fun.

New - Something New; Set between The Defiant One and Hot Zone. I wish there was a good way to summarize this, but there's just *not*. CJ just does the *hottest* stuff ever, and it's--wow. It's wonderfully written and hto as hell. So seriously, happy place here. An entire *galaxy* of cookies worth.
Duo by Rageprufrock: Cartography by Touch
New - A History of Maps; The first is a killer from the first moment you read it, even if you're not sure why. The second's even softer than the first, and more abrasive, because it's Rodney and he's merciless with himself, and it's lovely, and it hurts because it's about John, and Rodney's been with him on this journey just as alone and only able to watch. It's different and the same as the first-- the same easy pace, the same uncomplicated life being lived, except everything is complicated now.
