Achilles' Heel by pandoraiam
Ben might know something; he seemed the type. But Brian wasn’t about to ask him. Besides, when Ben had squeezed his shoulder at the wake and told him that the ones we love never truly leave us, he was pretty sure he hadn’t meant it literally.
It's *different*. Feel your way through. Amazingly good, but when isn't this author?
After the Ring by Severina
I am so on wavelength with Justin. This movie scared the hell out of me. Brian is really close to getting his ass kicked.
And Every Morning After by JustVisiting
I'm not sure I like this one as much as her other series, but I do like it a lot. AU for Season Four, sort of, post-season three, really, really interesting way things could turn out.
And So We Begin by Erin
Season four fic, ep two. Everything is changed, and new things are starting, and a really good look at the arc in progress as it begins.
Animal Behavior by Sue Walsh
A retelling of how Justin came to live with Brian that second, disasterous time. But before the disaster. It just feels right.
All in the Timing by Rei Kinneas
A five things fic that's all about just that bare second miss. Great stories here.
Bail, The Morning After, and Issues by Arabella O'Reilly (Brian/Justin)
First season, Brian and Justin, in which Justin gets in trouble and they sort of work it out. In their own, let's fuck it out of our heads way. I'm totally with this.
Currently looking for new links on above stories, since the current ones do not work.
Beautiful for Now by RachelAnton
A Michael pov on Brian and Justin. Bittersweet, painful, and lovely.
Best Laid Plans by Severina
First season. Justin is a good planner. I admire this about him muchly. Double first person pov, but you get used to it. Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Bewildered by Evil Man
Good Michael fic is rare as hell, and this bit, Michael and Emmett post Season Three, is just amazing.
Blurring the Lines by Katy Zapatka
Brian, first person. Not a favorite style, except when it's written like this. Leaving authorial intentions on teh wayside, I felt strangely amused by a Brian who is good at painful truths only to other people and never to himself.
Brian Kinney and the History of Architecture by Gradiva (Brian, Justin)
You *know* an author's done her homework when she can so seamlessly integrate art, design, and architecture into character driven smut. This is *good*. I like this view into Brian, and as always, I adore Justin. Beautifully done.
Busy Week on the Fridge by Julad
Where fic is art and it's so good and so funny. Brian and Justin communicate in the language of shopping. Hehe.
Call It a Good Marriage by Kel
Second season and very not-spoilery post-fourth. They're never going to get married, but maybe they don't have to.
The Cause by Juteux
It's--amazing. Justin-y on a mission. A scary, scary mission. I suggest reading immediately for your own health. Spoilers for spoilers of season four. I'm sure that makes sense.
The Color Series by Triskyfic (Brian/Justin)
A lovely, stylish story set in colors; past, present, and future.
Cupcake by Eleveninches
Possibly the most disturbing fic *ever*. There's--David. And Ethan. And the horror of an alliance that nature could never sanction. And Justin has a cute almost-nervous-breakdown. Fuuuuuun.
Dissolved by soundczech
Dancing, sweaty, not-naked, damn hot. The squeeing never ends. Never.
Easing Down Hard by London
Last, so far, in the series started with Out in the Cold. This relationship really *is* a relationship. I likes.
Easy Way Out by ragingpixie
Near futurefic. Brian's methodology in relationships leaves a lot to be desired. Wouldn't it be *easier* to just tell people how you feel instead of *testing* them constantly? But this is Brian, who doesn't like things easy, and this is Justin, who is learning that easy is a dirty word. It's wonderful.
The Eleventh Hour by Mesa
Heh. Justin's got a *plan*. Third season, really funny, and a dead-on Justin voice.
Ethan Is One Ghetto Muthafucka by Cree
There aren't words. Just read it. Because man, that is just hysterical.
Exception by Katy Zapatka
A beautifully written, elegant, third person double pov story. Don't be thrown off by the mix of voices--it works. Brian, Michael, sex, and the ghost of Justin through it all. Marvelous work.
Far Away From Close by Eve
Set post Ethan, pre Brian, in which three people think and consider. I like it. I can see it perfectly, slipping right into the cracks of canon.
Fellatio Quintet by Eliza
Okay, the title alone should just suck you in, but okay, maybe you need convincing. It's a lot of sex. And it's about sex, except it's really not. Justin is growing up, and the story follows it. And no one, no one ever say again that sex can't develop character, because this story? Proves that totally wrong.
Five Beginnings by Julad
Julad always does amazing B/J, and this one is no exception. Another marvelous entry in the five things challenge.
Five Reasons to Keep Loving Him, In No Particular Order by Negative Erin
She broke my heart. Justin muses on everything that binds him to Brian. Absolutely gorgeous piece of work.
Flesh by Sandy Keen and Kel
Post season one, pre season two. Brian and Michael, and what happened to them, and how much they both need hugs and prescription painkillers. Amazingly vivid, beautifully characterized.
"I was thinking of going to visit Justin this afternoon."
"That's nice."
"I thought you might like to come with me."
"Now why would you think that?"
She looks at him with that completely undaunted hope that he'll shape up and become a person that she'll probably have until the day she dies. "Because deep down," she says, "I know that you care about him."
The central air is broken on the third floor at the hospital, or at least it was seven hours ago, and Brian nearly froze his balls off when he was there this morning. He thinks about telling Lindsay that she should make sure that Gus has one of his little over-priced sweaters if she's going to bring him with her.
But he doesn't.
Floating in Darkness by Destina (Brian/Michael)
Because I have no problems with this lady fucking with my head. Brian fixes mistakes in his own way.
For Old Time's Sake by Josselin
Only Joss could have pulled this off successfully. Brian wakes up really different. And he is really good at dealing. Especially in high heels. Seriously, read this now. The Random Sex Change genre just got funnier. Again.
Give by Lane Carson
Spoilers for season two; wonderfully rich, stylistic, and a spectacular view of Brian's feelings without a hint of melodrama. Possibly the best indirect sex ever written, ever.
Growing Pains by Eleveninches
In which there is Michael. And Gus. And yes, like *that*. And it's funny and painful and I kind of feel bad for Michael, but man, it's *good* to read. Some great, great Brian moments, some fun Justin moments, and lots of excellent Michael.
Growing Up by gradiva
This is one of my favorite stories ever. It's a beautiful look at Justin present and future, his relationships, his life, and how he changes over the years. That's so damn general, but nothing can match Gradiva's exquisite prose and wonderful vision of Justin. I won't even try. Just read.
Hearing Things by Evaline
It's Justin, moving home! And by home, we mean Brian's, of course. And Ethan! Being a prick! And Brian! With a freaksome memory.
The Importance of Being Brian by Julad
By far, my favorite QaF fic in the fandom. Post season three. Brian's acting very weird, Justin's acting like Brian, and no one knows what the hell is going on. It's *wonderful*. Read now.
Indestructible by Ragingpixie
in which no one grow at all, there's h/c, Justin is a total martyr, and Brian has pretty bruises. This is why I love her. This is why I want to marry her when I grow up. Provided it's legal and someone promises to get me a mixer at the wedding. And not a crappy mixer. I mean the big, heavy duty, gourmet-class, stainless steel ones that make you cry they mix so well.
Irresistable by s.a (Michael, Lindsay, Justin, Brian)
See, she wrote SV and wrote this. Wow. Three perspectives on Brian Kinney, from those who love him best.
The Language Of Our Silences by E. E. Beck
beautiful, subtle bit of Brian and Justin quietness. Completely wonderful.
Brian glares for a moment, and turns toward the kitchen. Justin restrains himself from making a crack about domestic house fags, but that doesn't stop him from thinking it. Loudly. Brian puts away the Cheerios, the coffee, and the produce. His happiness is a subdued hum, inexplicable and inarticulate.
Lick My Bum by Trisky
Almost stream of hysterical conscious Justin, who just screwed up and oh God, is he worried. Loved it.
Lights! Camera! Action! by Sue Walsh
Michael finds porn in Justin's room. Really, really familiar porn.
Love or Something Like It by Ragingpixie
So few people can make Brian this--vivid. Being in love has to be its own special kind of hell for him. There aren't any rules. If there are, they change often. It doesn't *fit* into his life. And he knows it.
Sometimes, though … sometimes Brian muses. Mostly when he’s tired. Scenarios flicker before him and his brain takes them out of context, down avenues of Maybe and What Could Have Happened and If Only.
And.
Here is where Brian sometimes tries to say what Justin wants him to, because Brian wants there to be just one fucking time that he doesn’t have to look back on and wonder how it could have been Different.
*sniffs* It hurts and it's so true and it's so, so very good. *Dammit*.
Maps and Legends by Rachel Anton and Laura Blaurosen
Post 3.14 roadtrip fic, which is like my favorite kind. There's Brian's form of bonding, travel, snark, sex, and Big Ass Decisions while high. Which is the best way to make them.
Medley by mintwitch
Heh. A view of the early third season, humorous, light, and *true*. I love how logical Brian is. I love how practical Daphne is. And I love how all of this comes together in this very, very good story.
Mindkiller by Josselin
A strange, Dune-ish Justin is getting attention from Cody. Season four, around ep three or four.
Minutia by Rube
it's little things all around them. The style's almost dreamy, and you can feel Brian in every word. And I really hope I got the author's name right, because damned if I could actually find it on the page. But love it, yes. It's all these little things that make the big things seem less important.
Name Your Wish by JustVisiting
okay, in several ways, this didn't work for me for the first three reads, then it did, but not the ending, and then it worked completely and I was okay. I love this version of season two, where everyone started remembering to *think* and Justin doesn't let his spine melt into the floor. Because this--*this*--is logical. And this is good. And this is what I wish had happened.
The Nature of Knowing by Gradiva
An interestingly timeshifting piece that I truly enjoyed. A really great Justin and Brian all around.
Ode to Sunshine by Rube
Sunshine's life sucks. Ethan should diet. It's all kind of scary.
Of Death and Devotion by Rube
It's not done, but I'm not even sure it needs to be. Justin's obsessive, we all know that, and Gus is there, and it's creepy and dark and disturbingly Justin.
Oh Inverted World by burnitbackwards
Pretty Briannness. Likes. It's a complete hoot. And this author has the characters down very well.
Old Habits, New Vices by Elayna - NEW
First season QaF. I had a *blast* with this one.
Once Upon a Time by juteux - (Daphne, Chris Hobbes, Brian/Justin)
Wow. Daphnefic. I love when authors remember Daphne's around, and this bittersweet look at a post-third season grocery shopping and an unexpected sight just hurt so much. Not only her bitterness for Justin, but for herself. Highly recommended.
One Ring to Rule Your Ass by Valereix
Brian gets a ring from Justin. Then it gets lost in an Unfortunate Place. And he may never get his blowjob now. Epic Mikey and Brian adventures.
Physics, Groceries, and the Homosexual Agenda by mintwitch
Oh, this is funny. They go shopping. They meet someone. And Brian is high. And Justin really *does* perform on demand. And did I mention how damn *sharp* the writing is? Because it is.
The Pink Posse and I by Eleveninches
This is *hysterical*, as only she can manage to do in this fandom. And--yeah. Kind of sort of spoilery for 4.5, but not in any meaningful way that will make any sense whatsoever, so really, no worries. AU of season four. So. Much. Fun.
Principles by RagingPixie
Justin's gotten mightily independent this last season. And he's getting less worried about showing it. Subtley. It's an *interesting* look at Justin being very low key in following his beliefs. It's just a plus that it screws with Brian's head a little.
Queer Survivor by Josselin
It's so *odd*--Brian goes on the reality show Queer Survivor. Everyone watches. Justin waits. I mean, this rocks. I have no idea how she pulled it off, but it really, really does.
Regression by Mairead
Sweetness and not scary sweetness. Brian is very Brian, Justin plays with art, and everyone is happy.
Reunion by Severina
In which this is AU, surreal, and there is a pier involved. Really, *really* interesting what-if.
Risk by Josselin
In which Ethan tells Brian a secret. And Brian is odd. Per usual.
Road Trip by Sue Walsh
During and post-New York, in which it is hot, and also, how Justin got home in the jeep.
Safe Word by LJG - NEW
Hot bit of Justin introspection and *good* BJ. Set season two.
Shadows by Gradiva
One day, I'm going to write this long essay on why I think this is one of the best fics to come out of the QaF fandom. Because it is.
Some Like It White by Rana Eros
It's hot. God, it's hot. And it's *good*. Justin wants to know what the White Party would have been like. Brian obliges. Thoroughly.
Sons and Lovers by Burnitbackwards - NEW
Brian and Jennifer bound. Justin freaks out.
The Son of the Dawn by Paul Plesko - (Brian, Brian/Justin)
I'm never going to get over my terror of first person POV--if you've read what I have in this fandom, you already understand the scarring is pretty much permanent--but Paul keeps excellent control of Brian's voice and tone, so I pretended I'd never read a first person before in QaF and that worked. Post season three--I had some quibbles with some of the wording, but nothing that nail-to-chalkboarded me or anything. And well. It's hot. And also, I'd just like to point out, okay, ouch. But in a good, hot way. I'm not entirely sure he needed to hyphenate some of the words, but hell, I don't have a dictionary with me atm, so not too worried.
It was a test, I thought. A test of ownership. A test of commitment. A test of feelings. If I said "no," then he'd want an explanation... a justification. Why could I seek pleasure elsewhere while denying him the opportunity? And I couldn't explain it, really... I, who valued brutal honesty, couldn't handle gentle honesty. These feelings violated everything I'd believed for the last nine years. "No fetters. No baggage. Travel light." And he was asking me to change that.
I just liked that bit.
Steps by Josselin - (Daphne, Brian)
Josselin is amazing. THIS is gorgeous. One mistake, one night-stand, and every consequence under the sun. Joss writes a magnificently vulnerable Daphne, making the most difficult choice in history.
The Sudden Stop by Julad
I love this one. Brian and Justin apart, and how Brian is going to break down. Just not yet.
Suddenly Old by josselin
a beautiful Justin POV, post 3-14. Babysitting in the park. Moody. And well, you know. Ethan. Bastard.
Talk Dirty to Me by Mintwitch
PWP is rarely this good. I have a thing for dirty talk, and man, does the author *know* how to make it. Wow. Seriously hot.
Things You Didn't Even Know You Wanted by Rube
Awww. It's sweetness and toothpaste and better than flowers.
This Is Where Forever Ends Up by Silviakundera
"Hi," Ethan says back, and it's funny how that works -- how there is this person standing there who you kissed sloppily when he had teeth melting bad breath, and fucked, and slept beside until it was like he was just part of there, part of the sheets and pillows, and now you have nothing to tell each other at all, after you used to talk for hours, and you don't even miss him.
This strange, sweet, moody kind of nostalgia.
Three Weddings That Never Happened by Josselin (all)
Wow, the sheer NUMBER of things that could go wrong.
One evening in the bar, when Brian was drunk and tripping and probably in a condition similar to the one he was in when Lindsay managed to convince him to donate for her to have Gus, Melanie convinced Brian to marry her.
The Triumphant Artiste Starla
Hee! I just enjoyed every minute reading.
The Tugging Sound by Annaface
*sniffles* It's sweet, and pretty, and not too schmoopy.
Untitled Future Fic by windtossed
Very light season four, ep five spoilers. It's lovely, low-key, realistic domestic, and sweet, and I likes and feel all warm inside because of it. *nudge* Go on. Read.
Untitled Season Four Fic by bea_nonymous
There's a sweetness here that makes me shiver.
What I Know by Katy Zapatka
The single best Justin voice in the fandom. Seventeen, which is young but not as young as you think. Justin knows exactly what he's doing.
What They Do by Ragingpixie
Which is so very Daphne, and I so love this story, it flows perfectly. A lovely bit of Justin and Daphne bonding.
Whipped Topping by ScrewtheDaisies
Justin makes a kind of wish. Brian acts weirdly good. Much likes this Justin.
Wild Fantasies by valereix
Snarky Brian! Know-it-all Justin! Annoying Ted! It's like canon, but funnier!
"Hi," Blake held out his hand, as if he was leading a group therapy session instead of about to be ditched. "We've met before, right?"
"Right. It's good to see you again." Justin returned the handshake with one hand, while palming crotch with the other, ever the polite and efficient young man. Brian couldn't help but feel proud of what a damn good job he'd done raising him. "How are you doing, Ted?"
"He's fabulous," Brian interrupted. He stood up, wrapping one arm around Justin's chest. "Not rushing it, proving it to himself, one day at a time, let's go fuck in the bathroom."
With Inspiration by Circe
You really can't go wrong with bizarre Brian jealousy and Justin being oh so cute. And doing it in character.
Word of the Day by mintwitch (Brian, Justin, all)
Oh man, this is good. Tiny bits of a universe in progress. Brian's getting back on his feet, Justin's going along with it, and there's so damn much happening here. Read it. Now.
The World Before Columbus: Five Things That Never Happened to Gus Peterson by Kel
I love Gus fic. I love original, funny, creepy, *fun* Gus fic. And man, think of all the ways his life could go very, very weird.
Worth the Fight by EE Becks
It's the future, and it's Brian and Justin and it's how they've changed and how they haven't. I wish I could do better, but this one needs to be read without a single preconception in the mix. But it's beautiful. It's well paced, it's sweet and bitter and happy and sad, and I loved every second of reading it and mourned its end. You will too.
Series
Duo by Lane Carson
First season-y, AU second seasony fictional goodness, in which Justin pushes and pushes and pushes and Brian stops trying to push back quite so hard.
Series by Bigboobedcanuck
I love this entire series. Spoilers of season four through episode nine. Follows episode nine's final scene and goes on from there.
Their End May Know
Here No More
Their Way Pursue
Fills All the Hollows

AU of season three, working in some elements of canon season three. Because this apparently was a seriously inspiring time for shippers. Amazingly thorough, interesting OC, and a lot of fun to read. Also? Very hot.
