X-Men Movie Recs - General
All of the Animals by Jane St. Clair - (Scott, Logan/Scott, Scott/Jean, etc.)
There's this moment where you just give up and go with the story simply because it exists, whether or not you ever thought you'd like or agree with the subject, pairings, etc. Unexpected edges at every turn--kind of crawls under your skin, and this one I re-read just to make sure I read it right the first time. Amazing. I love it for a lot of reasons, not the least of which because Jane wrote it, therefore it must be read.
Blue by Jane St. Clair
Bobby slash is delicious anytime. Bobby slash with a side of Hank is a treat. And those first scenes with Scott and Warren redefine subtext and the art of understatement.
Body Memory by Minisinoo - (sequel to Mickey Blue Eyes, Jean, Scott/Jean)
This was one I can't define. It's sex without smut, love without sentiment, and character reality through sex. It redefines the art of writing sex for a REASON. Simply beautiful.
The Box Room by Kat Hughes - (Movieverse, Jean, Logan/Jean, Scott/Jean)
A post-mutant registration act story. A wonderful view into a much different Jean.
Caligo by Shana - (Crossover with House on Haunted Hill)
Don't let the crossover concept fool you into thinking bad. This is unbelievably good, complex, well-written, and everything you'd expect from someone of Shana's sheer talent.
Climb the Wind by Minisinoo - (Movieverse, Scott, Logan)
Incredible. I mean, just click on the link and lose yourself in a few hours in the single BEST movieverse novel written. Plot, action, the best Scott and Logan to be found, and probably one of my top favorite stories ever.
Overture by Wax Jism - NEW
I love all things Bobby and Johnny, and St. John's characterization here struck me hard.
Place by Sandra
This is style. Some stories have incredible plot, some have breathtaking characterizations, some have style. This is pure, rhythmic, haunting, creating a plot you have to examine to understand. You'll never forget it.
Seventeen by Kat Hughes - (sort of A/U, A/U to Twisted by Spyke Raven)
When there are two paths, Kat takes the one that leads to the dark side. Period. The darkest Jean Grey fic I've read in movieverse. No one can do psychosis like a telepath.
The Story by Jessica - (other, Rogue)
There's a lot I could say about this story--beautiful rhythm and style being high on the list, because it was November when I read it and I still remembered some of the lines when I went hunting today. Haunting, moving, and sad in a different way. Highly, highly recommended.
